Major Cole W. Lapierre

Major Lapierre hails from Sioux City, Iowa, in March 1986. His father served in the Air Force and was stationed in Iowa, Nebraska, Arizona, and Colorado before ending his active duty service and returning to Iowa in 1994. In 2004, he graduated high school in Iowa and moved to Phoenix, AZ. He attended Arizona State University and graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 2009.

Second Lieutenant Lapierre commissioned thru the Officer Candidates’ Course in 2010. Upon completion of the Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course in June 2011, he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 1st Marines. During his time with the battalion, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander and a Rifle Company Executive Officer. In 2012, he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conducting several theatre security cooperation exercises in the INDOPACIFIC region.

In March 2014, First Lieutenant Lapierre checked into Recruiting Station Oklahoma City as the Recruiting Station’s Executive Officer. In May 2014, First Lieutenant Lapierre was promoted to Captain. As the Executive Officer, Captain Lapierre was responsible for managing all recruiting activities in the Recruiting Station’s High School/Community College Program which included 572 high schools in a 100,000-square mile radius.

In November 2016, Captain Lapierre attended the Army’s Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (MCCC) in Fort Benning, GA, where he served as the class leader for the class of 120 soldiers, 11 Marines, and 4 International students. He graduated from MCCC in May 2017 with the Distinguished Leader Award.

In June 2017, Captain Lapierre checked into the 5th Marines where he served as the Regimental Headquarters Company Commander for approximately a year. While in this billet, Captain Lapierre served as the regiment’s lead planner for the 5th Marines Vietnam War Memorial project. After working closely with several volunteer organizations for ten months, the regiment dedicated a large memorial to the 2706 Marines and Sailors from 5th Marines who died during the Vietnam War.

In June 2018, Captain Lapierre checked into 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, and assumed command of Company C. In January 2019, Captain Lapierre assumed the role of the Battalion Operations Officer. The unit deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in November 2019. The unit extended during this deployment to remain postured to response to crisis amongst the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon return from deployment, Major Lapierre executed orders to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, where he served as he Battalion Operations Officer until May 2021.

In June 2021, Major Lapierre assumed command of Recruiting Station Los Angeles.

Major Lapierre’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Recruiting Ribbon
