Major Michael Nolan

Major Michael Nolan was born in Sacramento, CA in 1988. He attended the United States Naval Academy and commissioned in May 2011 after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.

Following graduation from The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course in December 2012, Major Nolan checked into 2d Battalion, 4th Marines and was assigned to Company E where he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander. While at 2/4, Major Nolan deployed twice in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Major Nolan reported to The Basic School in October 2015. During his time at The Basic School, he served as a tactics instructor, Infantry Officer Course instructor, and class advisor for IOC class 4-17. Major Nolan was then selected on the Commandant’s Career Level Education Board and attended the U.S. Army’s Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in October 2018.

In May 2019, Major Nolan reported to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines where he served as the Company G Commander until November 2020. At 2/5, he deployed in support of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 20.2 where he commanded the Crisis Response Company. Major Nolan then reported to 3d Battalion, 5th Marines for service as the Operations Officer. He deployed in support of the 31st MEU 21.2. He reported to Recruiting Station Orange County in May 2022.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3rd Award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd Award).
