Major Joshua M. Lewis

Major Joshua M. Lewis is a native of Alexandria, Minnesota.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2001 as a Logistics Vehicle Systems Operator (3533).  Lance Corporal Lewis deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March – August 2003 and Operation Enduring Freedom from March – October 2004, while completing his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Upon graduation, Sergeant Lewis was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in September 2008.

After completing The Basic School and Logistics Officers Course, 2nd Lieutenant Lewis was assigned to 2d Battalion, 9th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as the Maintenance Management Officer.  From July 2010 to February 2011, 2nd Lieutenant Lewis deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  Then from November 2011 to July 2012, 1st Lieutenant Lewis deployed as the Assistant Logistics Officer with 2/9 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

1st Lieutenant Lewis received orders to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia in September 2012 and was assigned as the Warfighting Instructor. Additional billets Captain Lewis held while at The Basic School included Staff Platoon Commander for Basic Officer Course 4-13, Executive Officer for Basic Officer Course 3-14, and Instructor Education Program.

In August 2015, Captain Lewis attended Expeditionary Warfare School, Quantico, Virginia. During his time at Expeditionary Warfare School he completed the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor program. Upon graduation from Expeditionary Warfare School in May 2016, Captain Lewis was assigned as Platoon Commander of Officer Candidates Course-222.

Captain Lewis executed orders to Camp Pendleton, California serving as Company Commander, Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 1 from September 2016-November 2017. Then, he deployed as the Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Detachment-37 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon return from deployment, Major Lewis was assigned as the Deputy G-4, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, CA.

In May 2020, Major Lewis reported to his current assignment as Commanding Officer of Recruiting Station, Sacramento.

Personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
