Major Zachary R. Bombria graduated from Fitchburg State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education while playing four years of varsity baseball.
In September 2014 Candidate Bombria attended Officer Candidate School on a reserve ground contract. After graduating The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course, 2ndLt Bombria was assigned to First Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment in Fort Devens, Massachusetts. From October 2015 to May 2016 2ndLt Bombria served as Platoon Commander, Company B, 1/25 and participated in Exercise NORDIC FROST.
As an individual augment to the 25th Marine Regiment 1stLt Bombria worked as Assistant Operations Officer for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Southern Command 2017. During re-deployment the SPMAGTF Command Element was appointed to lead the joint response for Hurricanes Irma and Maria relief efforts in the Caribbean. 1stLt Bombria served as the Current Operations Officer for Joint Task Force Leeward Isles.
In 2018 1stLt Bombria volunteered for an additional augmentation billet to Marine Forces Special Operations Command aboard Camp Lejeune, NC. 1stLt Bombria served as the Special Operations Command – Africa Regional Engagement Officer in the G-35.
In 2019 Captain Bombria received orders to First Battalion, First Marine Regiment as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer for deployment on Marine Rotational Force - Darwin, Australia. On deployment, Captain Bombria assumed command of Company C, participating in Exercise STEEL KNIGHT 19 and deployed to the United Arab Emirates for Exercise NATIVE FURY 20.
From 2020-2022 Captain Bombria was assigned to the School of Infantry – West as company executive officer and company commander. Captain Bombria completed Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program before joining Advanced Infantry Training Battalion as Operations Officer and Advanced Course Officer in Charge of Infantry Unit Leader Training Company.
From May 2022 to June 2024, Captain Bombria served in First Battalion, Seventh Marines at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA commanding Company B. During this assignment, Baker Company completed Integrated Training Exercise 1-23 and deployed on Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan participating in Jungle Warfare Exercise and Exercise COBRA GOLD 2023 before redeploying and participating in Mountain Training Exercise 1-24 and 2-24 at Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, CA.
Major Bombria is currently attending the Marine Corps Command and Staff College at Quantico, VA
