Major Edison Feisal

Major Edison Feisal was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 11 2007, a few months after his immigration to the United States from the United Kingdom.  After graduating from recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and Motor Vehicle Operator School at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. 
 
As a motor vehicle operator, Private First Class Feisal reported to The School of Infantry (SOI) East where he served as permanent personnel in support of entry level training requirements.  While at SOI, he enrolled in Ashford University online in pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management. 
 
Corporal Feisal reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB) in April 2010 and was meritoriously promoted to Sergeant in May 2010.  As a sergeant, he served as the Motor Transport Platoon Sergeant in support of Bravo Company, 8th ESB during OPERATION: ENDURING FREEDOM from Nov 2010 to April 2011.  While deployed, Sergeant Feisal was selected for Officer Candidate School via the Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP).
 
Second Lieutenant Feisal commissioned in August 2011.  Upon completion of The Basic School (TBS) and the Infantry Officer's Course (IOC), he was assigned to 2d Battalion 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  During his time with 2d Battalion 6th Marines, Second Lieutenant Feisal deployed as a Platoon Commander with Echo Company on the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan from August 2013 to February 2014.
 
Upon his return from deployment, First Lieutenant Feisal received orders to 1st Battalion 2d Marines to serve as a Rifle Company Executive Officer.  As a Company Executive Officer, First Lieutenant Feisal deployed with Charlie Company (Pale Horse) to Helmand province, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION: ENDURING FREEDOM from April 2014 to October 2014.  Following the deployment, he served as the acting Company Commander until his selection to recruiting duty.
 
Promoted to Captain while on recruiting duty, he served as the Officer Selection Officer (OSO) for Officer Selection Team (OST) Los Angeles from April 2015 to May 2018.  While on OSO duty, he recruited qualified applicants from USC, UCLA, and other top schools in the area.  After a successful tour, Captain Feisal was selected to attend the Marine Corps' Expeditionary Warfare School.  He subsequently received orders to 3d Battalion 6th Marines after 10 months of school.
 
Captain Feisal checked into to 3d Battalion 6th Marines in July 2019 and served as the Company Commander for the Iroquois Warriors from September 2019 to May 2021.  During that time, he participated in a Service Level Training Exercise to Bridgeport and Twenty nine Palms and deployed to Norway in support of Marine Rotational Force Exercise 21.1.  He was promoted to Major in June 2021, and served as the battalion's Operations Officer until his assumption of command as the Recruiting Station Commander for Recruiting Station Seattle.
 
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
