Master Sergeant Dominic Torres

Master Sergeant Dominic D. Torres currently serves as the Recruiter Instructor for Prior Service Recruiting Station 12, directly overseeing and shaping Prior Service Recruiting efforts aboard Camp Pendleton, California. With over 19 years of distinguished service in the United States Marine Corps, Master Sergeant Torres brings experience, leadership, and expertise in the operational and recruiting domains.

Enlisting in the Marine Corps on December 1st, 2005, Private First Class Torres completed recruit training at MCRD San Diego in April 2006, followed by Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon graduation, he attended Food Service Specialist School in Leesburg, Virginia, obtaining the primary MOS 3381. In November 2006, PFC Torres checked in with 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he distinguished himself by participating in numerous rigorous training exercises and was quickly promoted to Lance Corporal.

In 2008, Lance Corporal Torres was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group Headquarters Company in Camp Pendleton, CA, where he deployed with the 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was promoted to Corporal in theater and assumed responsibilities as Motor Transportation Chief. With thorough operational planning and combat-mounted patrols, he successfully conducted over 150 combat missions across the Al Anbar Province, including Ramadi, Baghdad, Fallujah, and Kuwait, meeting commanders' intent without incidents. This challenging period emphasized his ability to thrive in high-pressure, high-risk environments, demonstrating unparalleled leadership, operational knowledge, and tactical proficiency.

After transitioning from active duty in April 2010 to the Inactive Ready Reserves, Corporal Torres continued his service in the Select Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) with 4th Tanks, Alpha Company, and Delta Company 2 months later. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January 2011 and balanced academic goals, earning an associates degree and a bachelor's degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, showcasing his commitment to his military and personal development. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2014 and served as a Tank Crewman Chief.

In April 2015, Staff Sergeant Torres transitioned to the Active Reserve (AR) program and pursued a career in recruiting after serving as a production recruiter. After completing the Career Recruiter Course in April 2018, he was assigned the career designation MOS of 8412 and assumed the role and responsibilities as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) of the Prior Service Recruiter Sub Station in Los Angeles, California. In 2019, he earned a promotion to Gunnery Sergeant, leading a team of eight Prior Service Recruiters and two Extended Active Duty (EAD) Recruiters, attaining more than 302 accessions into a myriad of programs in the United States Marine Corps Reserves such as Active Reserves, and Individual Mobilization Augmentee Program in a single fiscal year. His leadership was pivotal in ensuring flawless operations with zero fraudulent incidents and zero erroneous packages submitted. Gunnery Sergeant Torres received orders to MCRD, San Diego, California, in March 2023 and served as the Chief Instructor for the Basic Prior Service Recruiters Course. During this assignment, he implemented theory and authentic experiences, increasing the lethality in the learning environment while mentoring the next generation of Marine Corps recruiters. His deep understanding of recruiting processes, particularly in Prior Service Recruiting, has made him a vital asset to the Marine Corps recruiting community. Gunnery Sergeant Torres assumed responsibility for his current capacity in April 2024 and was promoted to Master Sergeant in September.

Master Sergeant Torres' decorations reflect his exceptional service and leadership, including two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and three Certificates of Commendation. A dedicated family man, Master Sergeant Torres is married to Brenda Torres and is the proud father of two daughters, Isabella and Gabriella Torres. His career exemplifies a commitment to excellence, a deep sense of duty, and a passion for mentoring and guiding future Marines.
