Maj. Kao M. Saeteurn
Major Kao M. Saeteurn (RS Sacramento)
Major Saeteurn was born in San Francisco, California and grew up in Sacramento, California.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps through Recruiting Sub-Station South Sacramento and shipped to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in July 2003.  He graduated from the Personnel Administration School, Camp Johnson, North Carolina in January 2004.  Major Saeteurn’s first unit was 2d Battalion, 7th Marines in Twentynine Palms, California where he served as an Administrative Clerk from February 2004 to September 2007.  In October 2007, Major Saeteurn reported to Newport, Rhode Island as a student in the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program.  In June 2008, Major Saeteurn reported to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at the University of California (UC) Berkeley as a crosstown Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) student out of UC Davis.  He graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors in Exercise Biology and earned his commission in May 2012.  Major Saeteurn reported to The Basic School (TBS) in October 2012.  Upon graduation from TBS, he reported to the Financial Management Officer’s Course in July 2013.  Major Saeteurn’s first assignment as an officer was with the 1st Marine Logistics Group in December 2013 where he served as a Budget Officer for the Assistant Chief of Staff (AC/S), G-8.  He was selected for recruiting duty and reported to Recruiting Station San Francisco in April 2016 where he served as the Berkeley Officer Selection Officer (OSO).  In May 2020, Major Saeteurn graduated from the Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) and volunteered to serve as a summer augment at the Officer Candidates School (OCS).  In September 2020, Major Saeteurn reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) where he served as the Headquarters Company Commander and MEU Disbursing Officer.  In October 2021, Major Saeteurn reported to the Regional Disbursing Office - Pacific to serve as the Assistant Disbursing Officer.  Major Saeteurn reported to the III Marine Expeditionary Force Command Element in June 2022 to serve as the Deputy AC/S G-8.  He will assume command of Recruiting Station Sacramento in June 2023.
 
Deployments include three tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 2d Battalion, 7th Marines between 2004 and 2007, and one sea patrol with the 31st MEU in 2021.
 
Military education includes the Martial Arts Instructor Course, Officer Selection Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School (resident and non-resident), and the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program.  Civilian education includes a Bachelors in Exercise Biology and a minor in Education.
 
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3x), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3x), Good Conduct Medal (2x), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5x), and the Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon.
