A U.S. Marine Corps recruit with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, charges a hill during the final hike of the crucible at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, July 29, 2021. The crucible is a 54-hour long culminating event at recruit training which will finalize the transformation from recruit to Marine. Educators were afforded the opportunity to witness this ceremony during the Educator's workshop. The Educator's Workshop is a five-day program designed to better inform educators and influential figures about the benefits and opportunities available during service in the Marine Corps. This allows participants to return home and provide firsthand experience and knowledge to individuals interested in military service. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt. Kelsey Dornfeld)
